Drawing Your Business: A Simple Exercise for Powerful Clarity

Ever tried explaining your business and found yourself going down a rabbit hole of explanations? You're not alone! Today, I want to share a powerful exercise that's helped both me and my clients gain incredible clarity about our businesses.

You've heard the saying 'a picture paints a thousand words,' right? Well, what if I told you that drawing your business could give you more clarity than hours of writing business plans?

Here's a challenge I often give my clients at Cloud Business Services: Draw your entire business using just 1-4 simple diagrams. (Don't worry – artistic talent not required!)

Why This Works:

• Forces crystal-clear thinking

• Eliminates unnecessary complexity

• Creates an instant visual explanation tool

• Helps identify gaps in your business model

In my own business, I use just three simple diagrams:

• Two triangles (representing our service structure and methodology)

• One rectangle (showing our core philosophy)

These basic shapes have become my go-to tools for explaining our services to potential clients, and they've completely eliminated the dreaded 'business description ramble' we all know too well!

1. Grab a blank piece of paper

2. Set a timer for 15 minutes

3. Draw up to 4 diagrams that represent:

   • What your business does

   • How you do it

   • Why you do it

   • Your unique value proposition

Remember: Keep it simple. If you can't explain it with basic shapes, it might be too complicated!
