Do you have a Holiday Budget?
We are well into the Holiday Shopping Season, Black Friday and Cyber Monday have just passed, how is your wallet holding up?
The average amount that is expected to be spent on holiday items and gifts is $998.00
So now is a great time to create a plan to curb overspending and create a plan.
The first thing to consider is what is your budget? What can you reasonably afford at this time? If you have been pre-planning you might even have this saved in advance so you know what you have to spend.
The second thing to consider is what are your priorities. What do you really need to buy and what can be passed on.
During your shopping consider where you can adjust and save money as you go. Remember that a budget is a guideline that works best when you re-evaluate throughout the process to stay on track.
Once the holiday season has passed take a look back, did you stay on track and on a budget? If not where did you go astray? Keep this in mind for the next step.
Finally, plan for next year, there is never a better time to get a plan in place than when everything is fresh in your mind. This is the time to see where you need to adjust and also start to save so it is not such a strain on your budget.
Remember this is a time of year that is meant to be enjoyable so don't let the holiday debt become a stressor. Work within your means and enjoy the season.
